In case you missed it, Congressman Adam Schiff’s closing statement from the trump impeachment yesterday was one for the history books:
“If right doesn’t matter, It doesn’t matter how good the Constitution is. It doesn’t matter how brilliant the framers were. It doesn’t matter how good or bad our advocacy in this trial is. It doesn’t matter how well written the oath of impartiality is. If right doesn’t matter, we’re lost. If the truth doesn’t matter, we’re lost.”
Not only that, but after appealing, I also received notice that my posts from that page will not be shown in newsfeeds for a week. In addition, I am de-monetized (can’t place ads in the videos I post to FB) for a week as well.
All of this for an extremely well-written and accurate article that is about RACISTS and how they have dominated the American political landscape for the past 10 years. Apparently white fragility on FB is such that you can’t call white supremacists “shitty.” Perhaps the author of the article was remiss is not reminding readers that he’s not referring to ALL white people. He’s not talking about most of the good people who make up Middle America (many of whom are still, by the way, on the fence about whether they will vote for trump in 2020 or not, but I digress.)
It feels pointless to delve into the reasons why this suspension is bullshit, and why saying “Shitty White People” is not the same as if you referred to marginalized groups in the same way. People who don’t get it by now probably won’t and don’t want to. And if they really wanted to know, they could pick up a book or jump on Google for a while. And it just goes to show the ridiculous ways some people think racism/hate speech work.
In mid-December of last year, Representative Pramila Jayapal eloquently summed up why she voted to impeach trump, from her perspective as an immigrant to the United States who cherishes the Constitution and the checks that it offers Americans against a POTUS that is willing to abuse his power for personal gain.
In light of the white power “OK” symbols flashed during the pregame of today’s Army-Navy contest, I thought we should revisit the words of U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria from 2017, as he dealt with racial slurs at the Air Force Academy.
THIS is how you deal with that bullshit in our military institutions.
Many journalists still don’t acknowledge how racist trump is, or how his hateful rhetoric serves to inspire acts of deadly white supremacist terrorism, such as the recent attack in El Paso in which 20 people were killed by a gunman who expressly stated in an online manifesto that he was going after Hispanic immigrants.
So when Democratic presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke was asked a stupid question about what he thought trump could do to help the United States’ white supremacist terrorism problem, he went off.
For me, Beto had become somewhat lost in the crowd in terms of who I would most like to see win the Democratic nomination for POTUS. I’m sure he will get some criticism from the civility police, but his candor in this exchange has definitely scored him some points with me.
We once had a POTUS who was decent, caring, compassionate and empathetic. About as far away as you can possibly get from the classless, degenerate, white supremacist, stochastic terrorist garbage we currently have in our White House.
Here are excerpts from a January 2016 press conference, in which President Obama breaks down in tears while recounting numerous instances of gun violence, including Sandy Hook.
In light of today’s white supremacist terror incident in El Paso, let’s revisit this moment from a trump rally in Florida from a few months back, in which trump laughs off a comment from someone in the crowd yelling “shoot them!” about immigrants, and follows it up with a joke.
There were several key moments and admissions during Robert Mueller’s testimony to Congress regarding the Russia investigation. Congressman Adam Schiff’s closing remarks and questions of Mueller stand out in this regard. When asked to confirm that accepting foreign help during a presidential campaign is unethical, Mueller agreed, and even added that doing so would be considered a crime under the given circumstances. Schiff also made sure to pound home the point that all of the lies from the trump campaign opened key trump team members up to potential blackmail. In all, a quite damning five minutes.
trump likes to tweet racist things. It keeps his idiot white supremacist base fired up and angers decent Americans who oppose him. CNN’s anchor Victor Blackwell has apparently had enough. After trump tweeted out a racist attack on Baltimore, referring to it in his choice Hitler-ian language as “infested,” Blackwell offered up a passionate and emotional response.
Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell read the many racist trump statements that have been made over the years on the floor of Congress. And that’s a good thing, considering that trump loves to lie and deny things that he has said and done.
Republican Doug Collins objected, supposedly over the word “shithole.” I wouldn’t be surprised if his true objection was to trump’s racism being read aloud, though.
